Many boston terrier owners may think that giving just the normal food that an adult dog should get will be enough. But in actual fact, this may cause your dog not to be able to get sufficient nutrients needed to be healthy.

Yes, boston terrier require different diets at different ages. For instance, the puppy will need milk as the bulk of his food items while the adult may need an additional piece of meat to the boiled egg and milk. Therefore, the diet schedule changes according to the age factor.

Boston terrier puppies need larger amounts of protein, fat and carbohydrates than the regular adult dogs. Plus, they also require more frequent feedings in a day. The puppies are more active than adult dogs therefore the movement based diet requirements are more likely to apply for them.

On the contrary, elder dogs need a specialized diet. Their protein needs to be easily digestible and easily assimilated into their bodies. They also need plenty of water. However, feeding too much protein may eventually lead to an over burden of the renal structures and ultimately the kidneys may get damaged.

This is especially true if the immune system is already damaged. The elderly dogs also needs less food as compared to adult dogs because they move much less, thus spending only a limited amount of energy.

Female pregnant dogs should not be fed till full as it may cause discomforts to the animal. However, both the pregnant boston terrier and the nursing dog will need a special type of food items that have a balanced type of nutrition with proper supplementation of vitamins and minerals for their needs.

The nursing dog will need to be fed with enough calcium so that they will not be deficient in calcium. This will enable the bones of the puppies to be strong without any curving.
