Boston Terrier Jogging

When I went for my usual jog in the evening at a nearby park to de-stress, I met some of my old jogging friends. There is one particular elderly jogger who always bring his dog, a jack russell terrier, to jog with him.

To my utter disappointment as always, I could not beat him in jogging. Believe me, his speed is amazing. He jogs like he is in his peak days and he is already into his fifties. But one thing that always puzzled me is that his jack russell can still manage to keep up with his speed. Well, I should think it is the difference of having two legs to run and having four legs to run or he is just super fast.

Well, as I jogged past the usual track I saw a new jogger and he was holding onto a leash to a dog. Upon reaching closer and passing by, I saw that his dog is the boston terrier that we have always loved. He was just jogging beside his owner. I can see that he enjoys that run although to that boston terrier, I should think that the pace is slightly fast but manageable.

So it just dawned onto me that we should keep our pets healthy by making sure they have sufficient exercise too. We can also have another bonding session with our dogs. Do not just keep your dog in the house and feed him without much exercise. One day, you might find that your dog becomes heavier when he pounce onto you. That’s when you realize that exercise is what your dog lack in.

It can also be fun to exercise with your dog. You can even incorporate training into the exercise regime. Take a frisbee for example, you can play with the frisbee and command your dog to retrieve it. Adding some difficulty may be teaching and commanding your dog to jump up and catch it while it is about to come down.

It will definitely be fun for both you and your dog. Try it and you might even be ready to have a go at it the next day.

Well, that’s my thoughts on that. Anyone has any comments to add, feel free to add it.
